I’ve got an app for that

My trainer, James, and I usually swap baby stories, weekend plans and sweet tech finds for our ipad/iphones in between his intense leg sets. James introduced me to two awesome apps => AppZapp & Color Drops. Wouldn’t it be nice to know when apps go on sale? Well AppZapp tells you when an app has gone on sale, how much of a price drop, and if the price has gone up. It also gives you detailed information about each app, rating, screen shots, and other apps similar to the one you are viewing. You can even put apps on a watch list and AppZap will alert you when they go on sale! The best part- it’s FREE!

Color Drops is a FREE entertaining app for the wee ones. This app let’s your kids get creative using their fingers to paint freely or use one of the coloring pages with fairies, trucks and letters. The app makes funny sounds when you press the buttons and while painting little smiling bubbles pop up on the screen keeping your kid entertained! After the masterpiece is created you can take a screen shot to save, email to family or print for your fridge!

By far my favorite app is Pandora, a FREE internet radio that allows you to create personal channels customized to a song, artist or genre of your liking. When Lily was born I used Pandora during nighttime feedings to keep me awake and to lull her back to sleep. My favorite channels are Raffi Radio, Lullabye Radio, Today’s Hits, Today’s Country, Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay, and Journey. On the weekends we have the Journey channel streaming through the house speakers all day long. Yes there might be commercials but who doesn’t like free music???  * Currently playing Rick Springfield’s ‘”Jessie’s Girl.”

Another helpful and FREE app is the My Fitness Pal. This is a super easy calorie counting tool with over a million of foods in the database. If you are on the journey of loosing weight or just trying to stay in shape this app is handy in reaching your goals!

HeyTell is the most underrated app out there. Texting while driving is a big no no and forget about trying to text while running after a toddler! HeyTell is a FREE app that allows you to send voice memos. If I am at the grocery store and forget the lovely wine Emily poured at her house, I send her a quick HeyTell and within a few minutes she will ping me back the answer! The memos are your actual voice not a computerized one you can barely understand!

Other cool apps: Pinterest, Instagram, Flixster, SomeECards, Yelp, Epicurious Recipes….I could go on and on about awesome apps out there but Lily is taking a nap and I am going to enjoy the time left with the hubby, sipping on some coffee and assembling party favors for Lily’s first birthday. Hope you are enjoying your weekend and have fun with the new apps!

Thanks for the suggestions! By the way, I found your blog through Emily Ley. I’ve bookmarked you to my favorites now…..looking forward to getting to your posts! I really like the Shazam app. If you hear a song you love and don’t know the name you use the app and it tells you all the info! Genius!
