A Prized Possession

One of my favorite gifts is a family cookbook my mother gave me at my bridal shower. Tears formed as I browsed the pages and saw familiar handwriting from the women in my family. My mom contacted family members from my family along with my soon-to-be in-laws. I love to cook and my family is my world, so this gift is a prized possession.

The cookbook is a binder with several categories from appetizers to desserts. All of the recipes were placed in clear sleeves so I can read the backside of the cards without needing to take them out. Since it is a binder I can attach additional clear sleeves and recipes as time goes by.

There are so many new recipes that I have enjoyed trying and countless family ones that I cherish. When we can’t make it to Pittsburgh I can now make my mother-in-law’s yummy spinach balls or Aunt Sue’s broccoli pasta.  My papa even included his world famous bbq sauce and some of my favorite cookies my mom makes!

If you are trying to come up with a gift idea for someone…DO THIS! This sweet gift is not just for brides. How about the kid going off to college? Know anyone who survives off ramen or take home meals? What about a Christmas or birthday gift?  No matter what the occasion is, this is a lovely present that will be cherished.
